The data we process

Browsing data

The IT systems and software procedures used to make our website work acquire, as part of normal operations, certain personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols. This information is not collected to be associated to identified data subjects but could, by its very nature, make it possible to identify you through processing and association with data held by third parties. This category of data includes IP addresses or the domain names of computers that you use to connect to the website, addresses in URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) notation of the requested resources, the time the request is made, the method used to submit the request to the server, the file size obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the response status from the server (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters related to your operating system and your computer environment.

Browsing data are only used to obtain anonymous statistical information concerning the use of the website and to ensure its proper operation and are not stored for more than seven days, except where required for the investigation of crimes by the judicial authorities.

Cookies

Cookies are small text strings (letters and/or numbers) that the websites visited send to the user’s terminal and that allow information to be stored in the browser to be reused during the current visit (session cookies) or on subsequent visits, even after a period of time (persistent cookies).

Cookies can be used for different purposes (such as performing computer authentication, monitoring sessions, etc.) and, depending on the purpose pursued by a data controller, they can be divided into technical cookies and profiling cookies. The Website uses only technical cookies and, more specifically, the cookies listed in the document ‘EPIRO Cookie Table’.

Technical cookies are those that enable normal browsing of a website and its proper functioning. Since they enable activities that are essential for optimal use of the Website, they are meant to facilitate users’ consultation of it. They are not used for other purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into:

  1. browser or session cookies, that guarantee normal browsing and use of websites. These cookies are essential in that they allow the user to move from one section of the website to another and to use the services provided by the site such as browsing as a registered user or accessing secure areas, which would not otherwise be available;
  2. analytics (or performance) cookies, which are similar to technical cookies where they are used directly by the website operator to collect information on the number of users and how they visit the website or on the possible presence of error messages sent by the website during the browsing session. These cookies do not collect information that can identify visitors. The information is collected on an aggregate, anonymous basis and is exclusively used to improve the website. This website uses Matomo software installed on Area Science Park’s server, with IP addresses anonymised by truncation, thus preventing visitors’ identification;
  3. preference cookies, which allow users to browse in accordance with a set of certain criteria (for example language) in order to improve the service provided and to customise the offer available to the user to optimise his/her browsing experience.

The use of technical cookies (be them first-or third-party cookies) is essential for the proper functioning of websites and related services (e.g. login or access to restricted functions). The use of technical cookies does not require the user’s prior and informed consent.

Data provided voluntarily by the user

Registration on the website https://prp-ri.eu/ or user authentication when accessing the Website, as well as sending a request for information via the contact form(s) available on the Website, imply the provision of personal data by the user and their processing by Area Science Park, in accordance with the terms of the relevant notices on the processing of personal data made available to the user.
